During Pope Benedict XVI’s historic visit to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem on May 13,  2009, His Holiness received a personal commemorative plaque engraved with his name. This plaque was placed "in perpetuity" at the Memorial Hall and has become the Hall’s cornerstone.

 

During Pope Francis's historic visit to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem on May 25, 2014, His Holiness also received a personal commemorative plaque engraved with his name.

 

The Basilica of the Nativity is one of the oldest Christian churches in the world. It was here where Mary gave birth to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. For hundreds of years, millions of Christian faithful worldwide have come to this Church to pray for themselves and for their loved ones thus absorbing into their lives the holiness and spirituality of  this most sacred site.

 

The Memorial Hall at the Basilica of the Nativity is a historic project of the Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land, the humanitarian arm of the Custody of the Holy Land. This project is the first of its kind ever created in the Holy Land, giving the faithful  a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to commemorate their name or the names of their loved ones "in perpetuity" at this Holy Site. By so doing the Franciscan Fathers will be remembering  you and your family in their prayers.​

  1. A gold colored  Memorial Plaque with the full name you wish to commemorate. (​​3.5” b​​y​​ 1.18”).

  2. Placing 4 additional names in the 'Book of Remembrance' located at the  Memorial Hall.
